Transportation planning and structural design has been around as long as community has. Dwight D. Ongoing data surveys suggest that, by the time 2020 arrives, up to half of the assets in wastewater facilities may be beyond the midpoint of their allotted timespan — this is generally assumed to be 100 years or less, depending on extenuating circumstances. Not only will this likely happen, but 2020 will also see every major U.S. container port handling double the volume it was originally designed for.

Clean water needs to be as accessible and carefully maintained as possible to avoid floods, contamination and negative environmental impact. Civil engineer services are relied on daily to keep multiple populations safe on a daily basis. America’s aging sewer systems, even now, will spill an estimated one trillion gallons of untreated sewage on a yearly basis. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (shortened to EPA) has estimated drinking water facilities need to invest at least $334 billion over the next 20 years in order to address this deteriorating infrastructure and prevent illness and the spread of harmful bacteria.
The Future Of Geotechnical Engineering Firms
There’s always work to be done. Studies have estimated well over one third of America’s major roads are either in poor or mediocre condition, causing people to constantly pull in their cars for repair and struggle with even basic driving demands. More than half of the country’s interstate miles are at 70% traffic capacity, to boot, and see a higher risk for accident as a result. With dams needing constant repair and sewage systems harming the environment more than helping, geotechnical engineering firms are essential to reverse the trend and create a better world for all.
